Marlin Studios Releases Two “People N Motion” Libraries
Company adds animated people texture map libraries to its product line

Graphics studio and publisher Marlin Studios has announced the release of two “People N Motion" Libraries. The products are the 13th and 14th in a series of highly useable texture libraries created for use by 2D and 3D graphics artists. The texture maps can be used in any 3D program that makes use of animated textures, and can be composited onto backgrounds in 2D programs. No special software is required beyond the users particular 2D or 3D program.

People N Motion consists of two libraries which can be purchased separately or at a bundled discount price. Each library has a set of sequential animation files that allows the graphics user to create the illusion of moving people. The people can walk left and right, and forward and backward. While depicted standing, the people can be seen conversing with other people, talking on cell phones, turning book pages, lecturing, examining objects, and scanning the surrounding area. Arm and hand gestures, body shifts and lip movements are typical of the standing animations. The characters can cast shadows, reflect in shiny surfaces, and appear realistic through a moving virtual camera.

According to company president Tom Marlin, People N Motion was published to satisfy market demands. “Over the years, we’ve had constant requests for some sort of alpha-mapped people textures to add to 2D and 3D scenes. Then with the explosion of 3D in the architectural industry, the demand became even stronger. It seems everyone wants people in their scenes, and they want them to move like real people in flybys and walkthroughs. The first full animations created with People N Motion were remarkable. I thought I was watching a live video feed as people walked randomly across my screen.”

The two libraries are “People N Motion - Business Attire” and “People N Motion Casual Attire.” Each has two CD-Roms, one for people walking and one for people standing. There are 77 total photographed characters included in 69 looping animations on both libraries. Each library contains 32 animations, with one or more photographed people in each animation. A bonus set of seven animations is included with each library. There is even an animated Elvis impersonator, added as a novelty.

The people are depicted in two sets of .JPG animation files – image files and alpha channel transparency files -in large and small sizes. Typical frame counts range from 100 to 1,000, and file sizes are in the 350w x 600h range. Correctly proportioned 3D model files are included for each animation set, presented in .OBJ, .3DS, .Max and .LWO formats. An IFL (Image File List) and a “readme” file with animation specifications are also included for each animation set.

Marlin Studios "People N Motion" Libraries each sell for $299 plus s/h, or they can be purchased together at a substantial savings in a bundled “People Pack” for $499. The libraries can be ordered online at the Marlin Studios web site below, or by telephone, secure fax or mail http://www.marlinstudios.com/order/order.htm
