| The novel I wrote,
THREE
FORKS - A NOVEL OF TEXAS
inspired this image. I've always been fascinated by
transitions in time, when one era ends and another begins. For almost a
century, the chuck wagon provided cowboys with the provisions they needed
on long cattle drives -- the first 'meals on wheels,' if you will. But at
some point, technology passed by these vehicles and they were left out to
pasture. This scene also represents a fond memory: I ventured out into a
field of Longhorns to shoot the background image, despite the snarls and
grumblings of a very large steer. |
